Serenissima

As we are guests of the Emily Harvey Foundation, here are some thoughts on how fluxus works in our project. in " Theater of Mixed Means " Richard Kostelanetz discerns four different genres that have evolved out of a fluxus tradition: pure happening, staged happening, staged performance and kinetic environment.

Unlike renaissance theater these modes explore beyond the phenomenal, always with the possibility of individual ecstasy. yet, when we see bodies reacting to each other, we put them on a stage. our opus is a renunciation of a singular performative genre; we enlist all of the modes listed above.

L'Acquavenezia

"We have witnessed the evolution of the 'short story,' which has removed itself from oral tradition and no longer permits that slow piling one on top of the other of thin, transparent layers which constitutes the most appropriate picture of the way in which the perfect narrative is revealed through the layers of a variety of retellings"-Walter Benjamin Illuminations

in the sub-conscious of our residency an oral tradition of its own compiles itself as anarchist tourism. in our flaneur-esq journey songs, quotes, and a restless wind of movement are called out and contribute to the opus as we explore the connotations of space and character. The giodecca becomes our storyteller.

using models (italians who have volunteered and will be featured on this blog) and environments as our storytellers is one way to return to the oral epic tradition. if we go to the bottom of the matter and completely abandon writing on a page, the story would dissolve into a cathedral- frescos and statues do not remember but exist as reminiscence. the schedule of events on a line irrelevant to the essence of a space.

everyone is comfortable in the company of the story arc. what is the most comfortable couch for an audience to sit in with both the regurgitation of history and histories new self?

Dontchamissme

ricardos brothers out of his mouth with affliction as the serpent of these canals. dead here are not alone but a united people operative in a greater narration of process and climax similar to our opus- scientific in origin soon moving to mythic notions of birth . ricardo?s serpent positions itself as a five paragraph essay at last penetrating his own left eye and emitting an absence, a bleeding light. our polysexed protag is not absent of children , it gives birth to a delicate monster. its seamen is not a regurgitation of honey puss but the beginning of an adorned and devoted android.
